Summary of the April 2011 Capitol Panteras Meeting
The April meeting had two Panteras,
a Bricklin, and a DeLorean in the parking lot at Mimi's. Lamar
and Rick drove their Panteras, while John was in his Bricklin and Ken
in his DeLorean. This was a very good turn out of Club cars, especially
when you consider that we only had six people at the meeting! We
have no idea why the attendance was so low. There was no rain and
the day was clear and in the high 60's! Lets see if we can have a higher
turn out next month. A couple of members did e-mail us to tell us that
they would not be able to make the meeting: Don & Kathy just returned
from Don's brother's funeral, while Garry & Sue were in San Ramon
readying their house for sale. Those also attending the meeting, but not
is their Club car: Jim & Emilia. We had the raffle anyway since it was a great prize and the
odds of winning were good for everyone present. The raffle prize was a
custom Pantera shirt made by John McNamee. John Worsley won it. Ken
won the driving for gas money prize of $10.
The Capitol Panteras membership in the Association of California
Car Clubs is up for renewal. The group voted unanimously
to renew to keep our CP club membership current. This group
does important lobbying for the collector car hobby. The state of
California is looking for money everywhere. One of those places is the
collector car hobby. The state is considering several revenue bills that
would drastically affect the hobby. This group is a voice for all
collector car hobbyists. The other money matter taken care of at
this meeting was to reimburse Emilia & Jim for the driving for gas
money drawing and to give them $200 toward buying the POCA raffle tickets
they will be given to sell in Reno this June. Any prizes won with
Club tickets will be used as raffle prizes at future CP meetings. Lamar
had planned to go to POCA Reno but will be racing his speedboat instead of
his Pantera that week, but he bought $20 of raffle tickets. If he wins we
will bring the prize back for him. We will do the same for any CP member
who buys POCA raffle tickets in advance. Bring your money to buy POCA
raffle tickets at the May CP meeting.
As mentioned earlier in the newsletter, Don and Kathy Gagnon
were unable to attend the April meeting, but the Jackson Drive
is still on for Sunday, May 15. Please mark your calendar for
this CP event. A more definite head count will be taken at the May
CP meeting. Thank you Kathy for putting together this drive.
The Tech session for
Saturday, April 16, at Rick's shop has been cancelled. Lamar will not be racing his car at the POCA
track event in Reno in June as he had originally had planned. There were
no members at the meeting that had any problems that needed to be sorted at the
Tech session. It was decided to cancel the event. We thank Rick for
being willing to host the session at his shop. We will try again next
spring.
Ken gave us the date for the British Car Show in Woodland,
Sunday, May 22. EuroSunday may also be held in Woodland that day to piggy
back of the British Car Show. Ken will be there displaying his DeLorean.
He said there has been great response from the British car community and should
be a big show. He reminded us that the show is free to the public.
Rick will be running the TVR in the Sonoma Historic
Motorsports Festival at Infineon. Rick said the car is currently in the
shop being fitted with a "new bonnet". The one that came
with the car when he bought it was an aftermarket bonnet that didn't look
good and was not period correct. Let's see if several of us can make it
over to cheer him to victory or at least enjoy the shade of his pit area.
Carl is not running the Mangusta in the SCCA races this year.
Just a reminder to everyone to make their reservations of
Reno. We have made our room reservations and signed up for the dinner at
the National Auto Museum. The Museum dinner is a special event with the
museum open only to our POCA group. It is a fun evening strolling
among the auto displays with a glass of wine then dine in the
Museum.

There wasn't too much in this month's newsletter due to our
lack of automotive activity and the absence of any articles being submitted for
the newsletter. Lets hope that as the weather improves that there will be more
activities for everyone to report!
Wanted: Articles for CP Newsletter
If you have attended a car function of any type, please
write about your car adventures and send it to jes@riverdeltawireless.com
to be included in the next Capitol Pantera newsletter. If
newsletter articles are not received, then it will be more of Jim &
Emilia's automotive adventures or "The Motoring Mouth".
