Meeting Notes
Our June meeting also had a small attendance. No Panteras in sight, but John McNamee brought his Ferrari 360. Sorry John, I forgot to give you the $10 for the “driving for dollars”.
Also in attendance were Jim & Emilia Seiferling, Ron Southern, Tom Leonard, Patrick Eagle, and Joe Hensler.
Discussions Around the Table.
John reported that we have $1,061 in the club bank account. He reported that we only have about 5 paid POCA members in our chapter.
Sad; because I have 49 emails in our greater Sacramento area and 60 on this newsletter distribution list.
Tom and Patrick estimated that there were about 60 cars at the POCA car show in Reno. Attendance at the Saturday dinner was estimated to be around 100.
Jim Nowlin sent me this news story. https://www.ktvn.com/story/40595931/pantera-car-rally-returning-to-reno
Patrick has a black 1973 Pantera,. He is the Principle at the San Miguel Charter School, in Santa Rosa and came with Ron and Tom.
Joe has a 1971 red Pantera, s/n 2136, and lives in the Sacramento area.
Joe will be showing his 1954 Ford Comete Monte Carlo at Pebble Beach this year. Very cool.

At the last meeting we selected June 29 for a brunch run.
The destination has not been decided. If you have a route/restaurant suggestion, please speak up.
The long term weather forecast is predicted to be 86 in the valley.
John gave me the latest newsletter from the Association of California Car Clubs, which our chapter is a member.
They summarized all kinds of craziness (the ACCC words) coming from the golden dome in Sacramento.
I’ll only print the government actions that are Car related.
On July 1, the gas tax will increase by 12.6 cents per gallon. California residents pay over 74 cents per gallon in state and federal gas & fuel taxes.
That’s $14 for a 20 gallon fill up.
On January 1, 2020 (yes, 202 days from now) Cap & Trade is going to cause gas taxes to go up by as much as 72 cents per gallon!
The following 3 bills are in the “pipeline”.
Senate bill AB246 is an “oil severance tax” which means a possible 10 cent per gallon tax.
Senate bill SB390 would roll back SB1824. This will allow law enforcement to issue a fix-it ticket on loud or modified exhaust. Under SB1824 you could be sighted and fined immediately at an officers discretion and then you must prove yourself innocent, to have the chance of getting your fine back. (what are the chances of SB390 passing?).
Senate bill SB44 would phase out diesel trucks in California. It would require a 40% reduction in diesel emissions by 2030 and 80% by 2050.
The California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006, already requires truck owners to install diesel exhaust retrofits that capture pollutants and replace engines older than the 2010 model year by 2022.
Owners of collector cars, or any vehicle built before 2001, beware: The EPA finalized a rule approving the sale of E15 gasoline year-round, so use extra care when gassing up this summer.
California Air Resources Board Chairwomen, Mary Nichols (a lawyer, not a scientist) is threatening to enact drastic new pollution rules, including a ban on internal combustion-engine cars!
Wow, welcome to California!
