Festa Italiana, Sacramento
by Emilia Seiferling
The Festa was the first trip in #7114 this summer! Jim finished the repairs only a couple of days before the Festa. (article on Jim's adventure fixing the car to be done soon.) It was a beautiful day in the Delta, which made the drive to Sacramento very enjoyable. The view of the Sacramento River always makes the trip to Sacramento a scenic drive.
We arrived at Mimi's parking lot, the appointed meeting place. John Worsley soon joined us. John hoped to get a ride to the Festa since neither of his cars is Italian. We were shortly joined by Kathy and Don Gagnon from Jackson, and Michelle and Gary Glen of Sonoma. Gary is a PCNC member and Don is the newest Capitol Panteras member. We waited for a while for Rick Carlile. When Rick did not roll in right at the appointed departure time we attempted to call him. When we did not get a answer, we assumed that something must have come up for Rick. Our mini caravan of three Panteras and a Bug made the short drive over to the Festa. Jeff Budelli greeted us at the gate. Jeff is the Chairman of the Italian Car display and is a Capitol Pantera member. We parked the Panteras in their prime parking slots at the entrance and put the Capitol Pantera banner in the window of Jim's car. The car display at the Festa consisted of four Panteras, a Maserati, a Ferrari, a Fiat 500, and several Vespa scooters. Jeff said that Sue and John McNamee had been at the Festa on Saturday. Capitol Panteras had a good showing for the event. Our next mission was to find a table in the shade. The Festa put up a huge tent again this year. The tent made it easier to get a table that would be in the shade all day. The only miscalculation that I made was not spotting the speakers before I selected a table. Lets just say that we heard all the wonderful music very, very well. Note for Jim's Palm pilot for next year, locate speakers and table at the same time. Since Jim and I had not eaten breakfast that morning, we opted to eat an early lunch. Jim had a note in his Palm pilot from last year to have the lasagna for lunch this year. We couldn't remember why he had that note in the Palm pilot, but we figured there must have been a good reason, so we had the lasagna for lunch. It was very good. Over the course of the day people in the group tried different food items. The lasagna was the winner over the other choices. The weather was beautiful that Sunday. The entire summer has been mild in Sacramento this year. Even with the mild summer weather the drink tickets that Jeff kept us supplied with were appreciated and used by the group. The entertainment was good. This year had two different singers, Moreno Fruzzetti, from Italy, and Frank Sinatra tribute singer Rick Ellis, plus the Italian folk dancers and a live local Italian band, Italica. The shopping at the Festa had some different booths from last year. I bought an "Italian Shopping Cart", and enjoyed checking out the different booths. It was too bad that the cheese booth for the dairy out of Modesto was only doing tasting. I would have bought some of their award winning cheddar cheese.
Once again the Pantera has been our invitation to another wonderful day. Those of you who were unable to attend missed a fun day. Hope to see more of you at the Festa next year.

Summary of the August 2010 Capitol Panteras Meeting
The August meeting had two Panteras, a Mustang, a Harley and a DeLorean in the parking lot at Mimi's. The drivers were; Ken Montgomery, Lamar Fairchild, John McNamee, Don Gagnon & Jeff Budelli. Jeff won the driving for gas money. Others attending but not in a club car were; Jim & Emilia Seiferling, John Worsley, Mike and Nancy Haney,.
There was a raffle at this meeting. Treasurer John had gotten $20 Kragen Gift cards to be used for the next several CP meeting raffles. Nancy Haney was the August winner. The Club is on a finance roll. After subtracting out the cost of the raffle prize and the Driving for Gas Money costs, the Club made $1 .
Treasurer John reported that all outstanding Club bill have been paid. There is ~$850 remaining in the treasury.
Jeff gave a report about the Festa Italiana. We behaved ourselves and will be welcomed back next year. See article elsewhere in the newsletter.
Lamar has planned the drive for Saturday, September 18 to the Placerville area. We will meet at the Folsom Harley Davidson dealership in Folsom at 10 AM located at 115 Woodmere, Folsom. The drive will take us around the Placerville area and end up at the Red Hawk Casino for lunch. If we have enough cars we will be able to get display parking at the Casino. Tentatively attending will be: Jim & Emilia, Don & Kathy, Jeff, John W., Ken, Mike & Nancy, Lamar. Maybe Jim's cousin Rich will be able to join us for this drive in His Mustang for a drive around his own back yard! As always if your Club car is not "available" for the drive, please come in your daily driver. You just need to stay at the back of the pack. We will get a firm head count at the September meeting.
John Worsley is the only person going to Monterey this year. He has been asked to write an article for the newsletter. I should say John is the only CP member going to Monterey not busy racing at Laguna Seca. Rick Carlile is racing the TVR. Maybe he can pen an article about his racing exploits at the Historics.
Jim received an e-mail from Mike Boward. When we related this at the meeting. John McNamee told us about both Mike and Ken Palmer and their Panteras. We hope that they will join us for the drive on September 18, since they live in Folsom! Long time no see and some of us would like to meet you guys! Mike and Ken, we would love to get photos of your cars for the Club web site! Mike, if you can pass this message on to Ken, please do so as we don't have an e-mail address for him.
John Worsley has contacted the Grand Island Mansion and has gotten permission to park in front of the Mansion. This is a beautiful photo op for the Panteras. This Brunch Run will occur early November. John will confirm the exact date in October. We need to have at least 6 cars for this location.
Nancy is still working out the course for a the Coast Drive. She has several different "AutoZotica" routes from the past that she saved. She plans to do a "test drive" to determine which route would be the best length for our group. So this activity is still in the developmental stage.
