Christmas Party
December 5, 2004

It was a very cold, crisp winter night when the members of the Capitol Panteras got together for their yearly Christmas celebration.  The party was once again hosted by Patty and Dennis Gacutan.  We are indeed fortunate to have members who live right in the middle of one of the most festive Holiday Light displays in the greater Sacramento area.  The gathering was attended by approximately 20 CP members, plus some good friends and family of Dennis and Patty. Our hosts arranged for some very tasty BBQ to be served at the party.  It was impressive to arrive at the house and find a huge BBQ unit smoking away in the driveway!  We all enjoyed the food and conversation before a hearty few set out to walk the route to view the many decorated homes.  It was a great way to walk off some of the calories from dinner.  After the walkers returned, it was time for the gift exchange.  This year the exchange had a German theme in honor of the Pantera's transmission.  Car themed items were also considered as acceptable for the exchange.  It seems that German means beer to most of the CP members who attended.  There were four Mini-kegs, plus a six pack of German beer and would you believe that they were all different!  There was also a German Deli basket, a bottle of German Ice wine, and German style Black Forrest fudge and candy coated pretzels.  The car items included a book, German car model, DeTomaso poster, and an afghan in the DeTomaso colors of black, white and blue.  All in all there were some very nice gifts!  What part of the Pantera can we focus on next year for the gift exchange?   Next year Dennis and Patty will be in their new home which is about two blocks away from the old house.  They say we will be welcome to return.  Thanks again Dennis and Patty!!

Meeting Notes, January 11, 2005

We had 9 people at Mimi's for the January meeting of the Capitol Panteras.  The weather was cold, but not wet.  The big storm was taking a break for our meeting, but no Panteras in the parking lot!

Old business was the Christmas Party.  We again want to thank Dennis & Patty for opening their home to the Capitol Panteras for the Christmas Party.  Dennis was unable to attend the meeting, he was occupied with moving.  Their house has sold and they needed to be moved out by the weekend!

New Business  includes two activities for February.

There will be a Brunch at Mimi's on Saturday, February 5, at 10 AM.  Then it will be off to AutoRama, or where ever you wish to go. (It is Museum Day in Sacramento, all museums FREE).
CP member Carl Stein will have his Qvale TransAm Mangusta in the Autorama show.

The second February activity is Sunday, February 20, at 11:00 Am at Bush League Racing.  This is NASCAR Simulator racing. Jeff has arranged this and it should be a lot of fun!  He said it can be set up for different race tracks, including road courses.  If you have a racing friend, please feel free to bring them along.  Members, spouses, and friends are invited to join in the fun. You can check it out at www.BushLeagueRacing.com The cost is $25 for five races.  1021 Junction Blvd, just west of the corner of Washington Blvd. Behind the am/pm gas station.  Food and beverages can be purchased at the snack bar

Las Vegas Fun Rally
Dear POCA Chapter President, Webmaster, Newsletter Editor et al,

With POCA now committed to holding the Fun Rally at The Orleans Casino and Hotel, the Pantera Club of Northern California is launching our formal announcement for the two day track event we will be sponsoring on April 28 and 29 at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch
in Pahrump, Nevada.  As you know, this represents a major commitment of time, labor and yes, money, for the PCNC members.  But we are happy to continue providing this venue for the Fun Rally participants to experience their cars in a safe, controlled track environment where they can drive their cars as they were meant to be driven.

It was only due to the generous gifts of our fellow POCA members during last year's awards ceremony that PCNC came through last year's event in the black.  To help ensure the success of our 2005 event, we are asking our fellow chapters to help get the word out to their members.

To this E-mail, I have attached a flyer (Plain Text) giving the basics of the 2005 Track Event.  It includes a link to our online PCNC track event page, where more information is available.  And new for this year, participants can register and pay online using a credit card, Paypal or check.

As an incentive, this year PCNC is offering to each POCA chapter a twenty-five dollar ($25) rebate per registration if you have five or more of your members register.

I'd like to thank you in advance for helping PCNC in our publicity efforts. We would hope this flyer could be handed out at your club's meetings and events, and be added to your newsletters and website. We hope the 2005 Track Event will be the very best ever - having your chapter's members participate will help us reach our goal.

DRIVE IT!!

Sincerely,

Larry Finch
Publicity Chairperson,
PCNC Track Event
2005  PCNC TRACK EVENT   The Las Vegas Fun Rally is rapidly approaching!  Once again the Pantera Club of Northern California will sponsor a two-day track event, but due a doubling of the LVMS rental rates, this year we will be moving to a different track than last year.   PCNC has booked this year's track event at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada.  Located about 51 miles from the Orleans Casino Hotel, the Fun Rally has used this 2.2 mile road course in years past.  It is under brand new management and they have gone out of their way to accommodate us on Thursday and Friday, April 28 and 29.  You can visit their website at www.springmountainmotorsports.com to learn more about the course.  Many with experience at both sites like this road course better than the one at LVMS.   We are again offering either one or two day pricing, and will reward your early signup with prices much lower than last year's. To encourage more new drivers, and of course previous veterans, signing up before February 1 will give you a true bargain price of only $150 or $200 for one or two days, respectively.  From February 1 until March 31, the prices will be raised to $175 and $250.  If you wait until after April 1, it will cost you $200 and $300. But whether you sign up early or late, nowhere else will you find more track time for less money.  Due to the exclusive nature of our event, the track is relatively free of traffic, meaning you can get hours of safe, supervised track time experience to polish your driving techniques unimpeded by masses of other drivers.    For those of you seeking a bit of competition, there will again be the opportunity to participate in a no-kidding race on both days; the first  day's race will be a qualifying race for the main event on the second day.   Whether you drive a track prepared Pantera, a heavily upgraded car or just a well maintained survivor, this is THE event designed to bring them all together.   We expect to see the return of many drivers such as Greg Esakoff, Kevin Hubby, Matt Merritt, Richard Plotkin, Charlie Puckett, Larry Stock, and Dennis Quella.  We are working hard to make this PCNC Track Event the very best ever.  Having YOU attend will help make that happen.   The PCNC web site - http://www.panteraclubnorcal.com/track.htm is now ready with information and, new for this year, online registration with payment by Paypal, credit card or mailed check.  So take care of your registration, arrange your vacation and get ready for all the fun that awaits you and your Pantera at the 2005 PCNC Fun Rally track event.
DRIVE IT!!
