The Las Vegas Fun Rally is rapidly
approaching! Once again the Pantera
Club of Northern California will
sponsor a two-day track event on
Thursday and Friday, May 4 and 5.
PCNC has again booked this years
track event at Spring Mountain Motorsports
Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada,
using the same 2.2 mile course as last year.
You can visit their
website at
www.springmountainmotorsports.com
to learn more about the
course.
We are again offering either one or
two day pricing, and still are
priced to make this the most economical event
you can attend. Signing
up before February 1 will give you a true
bargain price of only $175 or
$225 for one or two days, respectively.
From February 1 until March
31, the prices will be raised to $200 and
$275. If you wait until
after April 1, it will cost you $225 and $325.
But whether you sign up
early or late, nowhere else will you find more track
time for less
money. Due to the exclusive nature of our event, the
track is
relatively free of traffic, meaning you can get hours of safe,
supervised track time experience to polish your driving techniques
unimpeded by masses of other drivers.
For those of you seeking a bit
of competition, there will again be the
opportunity to participate in a
no-kidding race on both days; the first
day's race will be a
qualifying race for the main event on the second
day.
Whether you
drive a track prepared Pantera, a heavily upgraded car or
just a well
maintained survivor, this is THE event designed to bring
them all
together. We expect to see the return of many drivers such
as
Greg Esakoff, Kevin Hubby, Matt Merritt, Richard Plotkin, Eric
Belter, Dale
Eriksen, Larry Stock, and Dennis Quella. We are working
hard to make
this PCNC Track Event the very best ever. Having YOU
attend will help
make that happen.
The PCNC web site -
http://www.panteraclubnorcal.com/track.htm
is now
ready with information, online registration, and payment by Paypal,
credit card or mailed check. So take care of your registration,
arrange your vacation and get ready for all the fun that awaits you and
your Pantera at the 2006 PCNC Fun Rally track event.

Meeting Notes, February
21,2006
We had 10 members and guests in attendance. Those
attending were: Dennis Gacutan, Jeff Budelli, John McNamee, Henry Kirk and
friend Karen, Glen Cramer, Ken Montgomery, John Worsley and Emilia & Jim
Seiferling. This was pretty good since we had to move the regular meeting
back a week due to a Valentines Day conflict. We had no Panteras in
the parking lot but did have two Italian cars driven by club members to the
meeting. We had a red Ferrari 348 GTS driven by John McNamee and
a yellow Lamborghini Murcielago driven by Glen Cramer. Those
cars did draw a lot of attention in Mimi's parking lot! Hopefully, as
the weather improves, we will have more Panteras driven to the CP
meetings.
Treasurer John reported that we were flush with over $900 in the
bank. He will be paying several bills connected with the web site. He will
also be paying the renewal fee for CP to remain a member in good standing with
the CSCC. The raffle at the meeting was won by the Treasurer, but only
after Glen said to draw again! This raffle had a net profit of $12 for the
club. Since we are doing so well financially, there was a brief discussion
on how to spend some of the funds. Some suggestions were: underwrite the
cost of some future club events such as the Christmas party, to identify a
charity to work with and do an event to tie into that charity. We would
ask everyone to think of ideas and bring their suggestions to the March CP
meeting.
The recent Autorama was discussed. Everyone agreed that
this year was an improvement over last year. We all agreed that it would be nice
to see more Panteras in the show. Anyone want to be in charge of this for
next year?
There is a date set for our Tech Session at Rick's shop.
Mark your calendar for Sunday, April 9, 2006.
The Foothill Wine Country tour has been moved from May to
April. The tentative date is Saturday, April 29, 2006. That date
will be confirmed with in the week and a follow up e-mail will be sent out so
that everyone can save the date. Jeff and John M. will set the event up for us.
Thanks guys!
John Worsley will set up a Brunch Run to Thunder Valley in the
summer. The date that we are aiming for is Sunday, July 16,2006.
Make that date a part of your summer activities.
Karen will be investigating possible locations in the Tahoe area
for a Summer brunch / lunch run. If the date and location work out we will
be inviting the Reno/Tahoe Panteras to join us. Karen will report back at
a later CP meeting. Thank you Karen.
Jeff will be getting details for the Festa Italiana auto display
in August. He is thinking of doing it for one day of the two day
event. This could be some very good PR for the Capitol Panteras.
CP members were reminded that the registration for Concorso
Italiano needs to be done by the end of the month to get the lower
rate. Three members reported that they have already signed up.
At least one more will sign up before the end of February. Also that PCNC has
changed their reservation policy for Monterey. After the end of Feb. they
will open the hotel up to other POCA members. A $100 deposit is
needed. Since it is "35 Years of the Pantera", it will be a Big year for
DeTomaso at Concorso Italiano. We are assuming that PI will also be doing
a hotel during the event weekend. The cost should be about the
same for both locations. Whichever location you decide upon, the main thing
is to reserve early to insure a room. Hope to see a lot of CP
members in Monterey!
If you have attended a car function of any
type, please write about your car adventures and send it to jes@rickadee.net to be included in the next Capitol Pantera newsletter.
If newsletter articles are not received, then it will be more of Jim &
Emilia's automotive adventures.
