Fernley Race Track Report
by
Mike Drew
Since the length of Mike's article is quite long, I felt it
would better to just post the link. Even if you don't plan on running
your car in the open track event, you can run it at the noon time break, for I
believe $20.00, following a "pace car". So if you've ever
wanted to see what it was like on a race track, here is your chance.
You'll find it's one of the smoothest roads you've every been on!

Here is the link to the track. It has a great aerial
photo of the complex on the home page.

Wanted: Articles for CP Newsletter
If you have attended a car function of any type, please
write about your car adventures and send it to jes@riverdeltawireless.com
to be included in the next Capitol Pantera newsletter. If
newsletter articles are not received, then it will be more of Jim &
Emilia's automotive adventures or "The Motoring Mouth".
The Motoring Mouth
Since it was a slow Pantera month, for newsletter articles,
you get the Motoring Mouth this month. This is some of the automotive
related chit-chat from the February CP meeting.
Chuck & Nancy are moving along on their Pantera restoration.
They hope to be able to drive it to Reno in June.
Rick is still working on the TVR. He is looking for
parts. He wants to get a spare rear differential. Also Rick has
agreed to be an inspector for Panteras that will be doing the POCA track event
in June in Reno.
John McNamee's son Grant is out of Marine boot
camp and is in MO. for training. He is training to drive some sort
of military vehicle.
Jim has had some interest in #1575. We are doing a
photo shoot, with the EuroSunday photographer. Three cars will be used,
Dennis Gacutan, Terry Morofsky, and ours. Red, White, & Blue.
John Worsley has his ticket for the Car event at Quail in
August. He said there were only a limited number of tickets available and
it sold out quickly.
Lamar has a new casino in his area, Placerville. He
will check out the Red Hawk Casino for a possible road trip by the Capitol
Panteras.
Summary of the January 2009 Capitol Panteras Meeting
The monthly meeting of the Capitol Panteras again found only
one Club car in the parking lot of Mimi's - so John McNamee was the
uncontested winner of the "Driving for Gas Money" drawing. But
everyone at the meeting felt that John "earned" the $ by braving the
rain to drive his Pantera to the meeting. Those in attendance, but
without their Club Car were: Rick Carlile, Lamar, Nancy and Chuck, Jim
& Emilia, and John Worsley.
The raffle was won by Jim. He received a $20 gift card
from Kragen. There was a $3 profit from the raffle! Treasurer John
reported that all outstanding bills were paid, with the exception of the CP
Christmas party. John still needs is a bill from Dennis and
Patty so he can pay it.
The Club voted to renew our Club membership at the Towe Auto
Museum. The membership includes free entry for CP members. John
will send in a copy of our membership roster with the renewal check.
There is a CP member on the Board of the Towe, Carl Stein. Maybe
Carl can arrange to get our CP banner put up on the "Club Wall" of
the museum. The banner was hand delivered to the Towe over a year
ago!
The EuroSunday Marque, that features DeTomaso, is May
10. That is Mother's Day, so we have cancelled the Brunch run to Thunder
Valley, after EuroSunday. Instead we will make a reservation at another
restaurant for those who are able to go to Brunch. Several
people have stated that they have a problem with the Mother's Day schedule of
EuroSunday. So if you can bring your car for the "show" then
need to get back to family, that is fine. The show should be over by 9:30
- 10:00 AM We hope to have a good turn out so as to not be embarrassed.
If anyone has an idea for an outing, please bring your idea
to the next meeting or e-mail it to Jim.
