Super Bowl Party, Morgan Hill, 2/7/10
by Emilia Seiferling
Jim and I decided to attend the PCNC Super Bowl Party this
year. We had never attended their annual club gathering. We packed
up a dish of corn bread and some home made honey butter and headed off to the
party, in Morgan Hill, at the home of Pam and Roger Sharp. We made good
time, with only one stop. We forgot to bring beverages so we had to stop
at the store to pick them up on our way. We stopped at the Wal-Mart Super
Store in Morgan Hill. What a nice store. I wish we had one closer to our
home.
We arrived a bit after noon. There were already a
number of people present. We estimated the total number of people
attending to eventually be between 60-70 people. Everyone that arrived
dropped off their food items and stocked the coolers with soda and beer.
The main dish was chili. There were 4 or 5 different styles of chili to
pick from for the late lunch feast that was available. There was no lack
of good food at this party. We chatted with old Pantera friends that
we had not seen since the last POCA gathering and met some now Pantera
people. We were the only Capitol Pantera members in attendance (Mike Drew
was there; his main POCA chapter is PCNC, but he is an associate member of CP).
There were two separate areas set up to watch the big
game. There was one area in the house and one in the garage. Not
everyone was interested in the game, but all had a good time. It was not
difficult to have a good time when there is so much good food and
fellowship. We left for home after the half time show so as to not
get home too late. What a surprise to find out that the lead changed
while we were in transit!
Jim and I thank PCNC for warmly welcoming us to this
function, as they have other of their functions in the past. It just goes
to demonstrate what a great group POCA members are. While we didn't drive
the Pantera to this event, it was yet another great day because we have a
Pantera. (The reason for not driving the Pantera could be another article
for a future CP newsletter.)

Wanted: Articles for CP Newsletter
If you have attended a car function of any type, please
write about your car adventures and send it to jes@riverdeltawireless.com
to be included in the next Capitol Pantera newsletter. If
newsletter articles are not received, then it will be more of Jim &
Emilia's automotive adventures or "The Motoring Mouth"
Summary of the February 2010 Capitol Panteras
Meeting
The February meeting had no Panteras in the
parking lot at Mimi's, but there was a Bricklin. The group consisted of
Jim & Emilia, Ken, John Worsley, Rick, John McNamee and Lamar. There
was no raffle due to the low attendance. John won "driving
for gas $" as he was the only club car present. Because of the lack of
competition, the rules for the "driving of gas $" will change
effective next month. There must be at least two cars present to have a
drawing. There will be no more winning by default.
Treasurer John reported that there is $1081-ish in the
club treasury. We voted to renew our Club membership in the California
Auto Museum. John will send them a check and a membership roster.
The renewal includes free entrance for our members to the Museum.
Webmaster Ken announced that the new server system will
save us money. He would like all members to submit new photos. He
is doing an updated and redesigned web page.
Racing schedules for Rick and Carl have been added to the
Club calendar. Maybe some of the CP members will be able to
attend Rick and Carl's races and to cheer them on to victory.
The Tech Session at Rick's may get moved to May. Rick
will have a date for us at the March CP meeting. This would make the
tech session closer to the POCA Fun Rally. Hopefully some members would
use the tech session to fine tune their cars for the drive to the Fun Rally in
Reno.
If anyone would like to set up a drive this summer, please
bring your idea to the next CP meeting.
