2015
Meeting
Notes
The February Capitol Pantera
meeting was held at Coco's. Those in attendance were: President John,
newsletter editors Jim and Emilia, Sue & Garry Choate, Ken Montgomery, Ron
Southern, John Drago, Lori & Mike Drew, Rick Carlile, Mike & Nancy
Haney, Darice & Duane Harland, and Henry Kirk. There were enough Club
cars in the parking lot to hold the "Driving for Gas $"
drawing. Duane was the winning driver. The raffle prize
was one of the items won by the Club at the "Dreams & Drivers"
gathering in October, which featured the Bricklin of late member John
Worsley. The winner of the raffle was Jim. He took home an auto
detailing kit.
President John will be trying to
arrangeto have the June CP meeting at the California Automobile
Museum. If possible he will get a Saturday date. That would enable
more members to attend, as well as any other POCA members from the Bay Area to
make the drive over for a noontime gathering. Details to follow as
they develop.
Mike Haney announced that the POCA
Board would be sending out ballots in the next POCA Newsletter. The
ballots will be concerning a change in the voting procedure for POCA.
Mike and President John encouraged all members to vote. There will be
discussion and voting at the March CP meeting.
President John has the new Capitol
Panteras checking account set and ready for use. Future checks,
written to the Club, should be written Capitol Panteras / John
McNamee. This change has made the bank happy with us, without having
to take out a tax id number.
Ron Southern shared some automotive
news about his workplace, The Sonoma Fairmont Resort. The resort has
recently acquired two new Cadillac Escalades as part of their fleet.
The base price per auto was $83,500. As equipped they came in at $95,400!
The resort has also installed two three-hour chargers for electric cars.
This was due in part to the fact that you can now rent a Tesla at SFO.
They have several Teslas per week at the resort.
The Serrano Concourse 2015 will have a
special DeTomaso area, thanks to President John's efforts. John
wants to have a good showing of Panteras at this event. He has
arranged to have Pantera expert Steve Wilkinson be a judge at the
event. John has told the organizers that we can product 20+ cars.
So please mark your calendar for October 4, 2015, which is the first
Sunday of October. Capitol Panteras would like to invite all DeTomaso
owners to attend this event. So please consider a drive to
Sacramento area this October from the Bay area or Reno/ Tahoe
area to join us for the Serrano Concourse. It may be a bit far for
Southern Californians to drive north, but we would welcome all DeTomaso
cars at the event. http://www.nielloconcoursatserrano.com
