Capitol Panteras Christmas Party
Saturday,
December 13th, 6 PM
The Capitol Panteras Christmas party was held at The Blue Print Restaurant this year. This was the first time since Jim and I joined the Club that the holiday party was not held at a member home. While that attendance could have been better, a good time was had by all that attended. The restaurant did not hold the club to the number that we had initially given them. We thank them very much for that. The food and the room were just right for our group. The gift exchange was fun. It was possible to figure out the connection each gift had to the theme "The 70's". There was only one duplicate among the gifts. There were two lava lights. We went home with one of them and have enjoyed watching it.
Let's all make plans to attend the Capitol Pantera Christmas party next year.
Meeting Notes
The January Capitol Pantera meeting was held at Coco's. Those in attendance were: President John, newsletter editors Jim and Emilia, Sue & Garry Choate, Ken Montgomery, Ron Southern, John & Beth Drago, Lori & Mike Drew, and Carl Stein.. There were enough club cars in the parking lot to hold the "Driving for Gas $" drawing. The winner was President John. The raffle was one of the items won by the Club at the "Dreams & Drivers" gathering in October, which featured the Bricklin of late member John Worsley. The winner of the raffle was Carl. He took home a bottle of wine and an electric wine opener.
Carl reported on what was happening at CAM (California Automobile Museum). The current plan is to buy the building from the City of Sacramento. They hope that the purchase will be finalized in six months. After the sale is complete, the capital project can proceed.
President John is still working with the bank concerning the Capitol Panteras checking account. It appears that any future checks that are written to the Club should be written Capitol Panteras / John McNamee in order to make the bank happy.
The POCA Fun Rally will in Houston, Texas this year. It will be in May. Currently President John does not plan to attend. Since we are planning on going to Houston, Jim has offered to represent CP at the President's Breakfast.
Talk around the table revealed that several club cars are in various stages of repair.
Garry has the engine out for a rebuild. John D. is rebuilding his car. Lori's car is having transmission work done. Jim needs to replace the fuel pump and maybe the throw out bearing done. Plus his has new headers to put on the Pantera. All pledge to be ready for the big show in October!
Serrano Concourse 2015 will have a special deTomaso area thanks to President John's efforts. John wants to have a good showing of Panteras at this event. He has told the organizers that we can product 20 cars. So please mark your calendar for October 4, 2015. This is the first Sunday of October.
