We had a very good turnout for the March
meeting of the Capitol Panteras. I think it might be close to a
record! There were 17 members and guests in attendance! One can only
guess what the attendance will be when the weather improves and we can once
again be seated out on the patio. Those present were: Jeff Budelli ,
Duane & Darice Harlan, Carl Stein, Rick Moseley & friend
Diane, Henry Kirk, John McNamee, Mike Drew, Chris Difani, Emilia & Jim
Seiferling, Ken Montgomery, John Worsley , Glen Cramer, Rick Carlile, and
Bill Midtgard. It was great to have Bill make one of our
meetings. He was in town on business. Bill is a member of the
Reno-Tahoe Panteras.
The raffle at this months meeting was won by John Worsley.
He won a $20 gift card at Kragen's. It was reported that last month's
raffle winner, John McNamee has used his only raffle win ever (13 years of no
wins), a gift card. But, he used it for something boring like brake pads
for his van!
Treasurer John McNamee reported that our dues are paid
and the club is a member in good standing of the CSCCA. We are
also very flush, money wise, and all bills have been paid! We will check
to see if Capitol Panteras did indeed place in the POCA article contest for
2005. I thought we got a podium finish and that meant $$ for the CP
treasury, but we have not received a check. Maybe it's in the mail?
Jack DeRyke, how did we do?
We have three associate CP members who have paid their
dues. Ken Montgomery , John Worsley, and Mike Drew are all paid up
associate members in good standing! We are indeed lucky to have these guys
as part of the CP group!
Jeff reported the date for the Foothill Wine Country Wine Tour
and BBQ is set for Sunday, May 21. Jeff has scouted out several wineries
with paved parking lots for the tour. The event will end with a
BBQ at the home of Glen Cramer. Please mark your calendar now. We
will need a head count to arrange the food. A separate e-mail will be
going out to help people RSVP for the event. As with all CP events, if
your club car is not road worthy the day of the event, please don't feel that
you can't attend! We welcome all members in any vehicle, but you may have
to be at the back of the pack on the cruise if you don't bring the club
car.
Rick reported that the Tech Session is a go for Sunday, April 9,
at 9:30 AM his shop. Please RSVP so Rick can have things
set for the BYO meat BBQ. A reminder that whatever the project is,
you must be able to drive the car home at the end of the session. You can RSVP
to Jim at
jes@rickadee.net.
John Worsley reported that the Thunder Valley Brunch Run is
a go. Mark you calendar for Sunday, July 16. We will meet at the
parking lot at Mimi's to caravan to the casino.
Bill Midtgard gave us a pep talk to attend the Reno-Tahoe Rally
June 7-11. Jim and I have attend in the past and look forward to attending
this year. We highly encourage you to attend. If you can't
attend the entire event, consider coming for part of it. The host
hotel will be Harrah's. There will be a display there open to the
public at the end of the event. The rest of the event items are still
being worked out. Bill asked if there were any specific things that we
your enjoy. Several items were mentioned: comedy club/dinner, the Fernley
track, the paddle wheeler on Lake Tahoe. I forgot to tell Bill
the dinner at the National Auto Museum would be great to do
again.
If you have attended a car function of any
type, please write about your car adventures and send it to jes@rickadee.net to be included in the next Capitol Pantera newsletter.
If newsletter articles are not received, then it will be more of Jim &
Emilia's automotive adventures or "The Motoring Mouth".
