The Motoring Mouth
by Emilia Seiferling
Due to a lack of other automotive things to report, here are
a few automotive related items that were mentioned at the March Capitol
Panteras meeting.
John Worsley is having battery problems with the
Bricklin. John also went to Autorama. He said that there was one
Pantera on display. Ted Bristol had his recently completed car in the
show.
Rick Carlile has applied to run at both The Vintage race at
Sears in June and the Vintage race at Monterey in August. We heard from
Rick, just a few days after the meeting, that his TVR was accepted to the
Monterey Historics. Great news.
Rick also helped Rick Moseley get the motor in his
Ferrari. This has been a long project for Rick, 7 years. Congratulations
Rick for sticking to it and getting it done.
Henry Kirk has been seen at a couple of Sacramento
EuroSundays. He told John Worsley that the job in Southern California
will continue for another 2 years.
Rick also mentioned that Carl Stein has had walking
pneumonia. We hope that Carl is feeling better and will be attending a CP
meeting soon.
Jim Seiferling is also dealing with possible battery
issues. He is running some tests and will be deciding if the battery is
really the issue that got us stranded a couple of weeks ago in the Montezuma
Hills. The location of the malfunction meant that we had very
minimal cell coverage and were lucky to get help!
We have heard unofficially that all the PCNC rooms at the
Los Laureles Lodge are taken, for the Concourso Monterey weekend. You
will have to find a room elsewhere if you are going.
Delta Tour with the Maserati Club
by Jim Seiferling
Emilia and I have been invited to join the annual Delta Tour held by the Maserati Club. We attended last year's drive and enjoyed the drive, wine tasting, and lunch. And we were able to do it all in our own backyard! The drive begins and ends in Rio Vista. When we were invited again this year, we asked if we could extend the invitation to other Pantera owners. The answer was yes, they just need a head count for lunch a few days before the drive. The only cost involved is your lunch. The drive starts at 10 AM on Saturday, April 3. The group meets at the McDonald's/Chevron Station on Highway 12 just west of the bridge, in Rio Vista. So if you would like to join Emilia and I for the Delta Maserati Run, please let us know.
Wanted: Articles for CP Newsletter
If you have attended a car function of any type, please
write about your car adventures and send it to jes@riverdeltawireless.com
to be included in the next Capitol Pantera newsletter. If
newsletter articles are not received, then it will be more of Jim &
Emilia's automotive adventures or "The Motoring Mouth"
Summary of the March 2010 Capitol Panteras
Meeting
The March meeting had no Panteras in the parking
lot at Mimi's! That did save the Treasury the "Driving of Gas
Money". The group consisted of Jim & Emilia, John Worsley, Rick,
and Kurt Bernatzke. Kurt is a CHPie member. Kurt is working on a project
in Davis and decided to come to the CP meeting. He has
owned his 1971 Pantera since 1976!
John Worsley attended AutoRama and has been asked to write
an article for the CP newsletter. Look for his article in the next
issue of the newsletter.
The Tech Session at Rick's was officially moved to
May. It will be either May 22 or May 29 at Rick's office/shop. We will
take a head count at the April CP meeting to determine which date will get the
best turn out for the Tech Session. This would make the tech session closer to
the POCA Fun Rally. Hopefully some members would use the tech session to
fine-tune their cars for the drive to the Fun Rally in Reno.
Jeff was not at the meeting so we need to confirm the drive
to Coloma on May 1, 2010. We also need to get the date for Festa Italiano on
the CP calendar.
The latest issue of the POCA Newsletter has the schedule for
the POCA Reno Fun Rally. Remember to sign up for this fun event.
Jim and I would love to have some CP company for this outing. We need some CP
members there to buy the raffle tickets that we will be given to sell.
