Summary of the March 2012 Capitol Panteras
Meeting
The March meeting had no Club cars in the parking lot. But there was a reason, it had been wet and windy all day. Despite the bad weather we had a surprisingly good turn out for the CP meeting. We had 14 attending the meeting; Jim & Emilia Seiferling, John McNamee, Ken Montgomery, John Worsley, Duane & Darice Harlan, Lori Albino, Rick Carlile, Jeff Budelli, Dennis Gacutan, Kathy & Don Gagnon, and new POCA member Ken Scherfee. Ken has recently joined POCA after purchasing a 1972 Pantera. Welcome to CP Ken.
Treasurer John reported that Capitol Panteras is a paid member club of the California Auto Museum. Our Club, being a member of the museum, is one way the club supports the automotive hobbies in Sacramento. This Club membership entitles CP members to a free entrance to the museum. You need to inform the desk that you are a CP member; they will check the Car Club book and admit you free of charge to the museum.
Treasurer John reported we have $1,385 in the bank. After the raffle that total went up to $1,420. Since we are so flush, it was suggested that the Club could consider a charitable donation to one or more car related charities. This topic will be reviewed at the April meeting. If you have a suggestion as to which charity we might donate to, please attend the meeting and be prepared to speak about your charitable choice. We need to keep some of our funds to pay for club related activities such as our Christmas party. It was also suggested that the group could do a summer time picnic / drive. There would be a potential cost of park entrance fee and part of the food costs. Jim and I will be doing research on this project. So far we have a suggestion of Lodi Lake Park, the Rio Vista fishing access, and Rancho Seco Regional Park. As the location for the picnic narrows, more details will be reported to the Club.
The "Driving for Gas $" drawing was not held because we need at least 2 club cars to hold the drawing.
A raffle was held for a custom embroidered duffle bag. John McNamee produced this one of one bag at his shop. It has the DeTomaso logo on it. Jim was the winner of the much sought after prize. We made $35 profit. John said there would be other custom DeTomaso items, from his shop, as future raffle prizes. You will have to be at the meeting next month to see what he brings for the raffle! Thank you John for your creative prizes.
Garry & Sue Choate were not at the CP meeting due to Garry's impending shoulder surgery. He wants to stay away from people gatherings until after the surgery. He does not want to catch a bug that could delay his surgery. Sue said that Garry is looking forward to getting back to projects in his garage, with out the pain in his shoulder.
Ken announced that the DeLorean Club is hosting a Gold Country drive on Saturday, March 24, and Capitol Pantera members are welcome to join in on the fun. Click here for the exact route and details.
Duane reported on "Wings & Wheel" at the Aerospace Museum of California. They are looking for exotic cars to be on display. The event is scheduled for June 2. The theme is Fuel Your Need for Speed. Duane said that there might be an autocross associated with the event.
The date is set for the tech session at Rick's shop. It is set for Saturday, April 14, at 10 AM. Let's take advantage of our fellow Capitol Panteras members to pick their brains on fixing any Pantera concerns you might have. We will get a head count of those that will be attending the tech session at the April CP meeting. If no one has any Pantera demons to chase down at that time, the Tech Session may be canceled.
Lori has been volunteered to write an article about the April POCA Fun Rally since she and Mike will be attending the event in Phoenix. Nobody that we know of, from our Capitol group, is planning on going.
Jeff will be the Italian Car Display Chairman for Festa Italiana in August. He will arrange for the DeTomaso to be the featured marque on Sunday. Jeff said that he hopes to be on his way to Sturges, at the time of the Festa, but he will have everything arranged for our group.
Wanted: Articles for CP Newsletter
If you have attended a car function of any type, please
write about your car adventures and send it to jes@riverdeltawireless.com
to be included in the next Capitol Pantera newsletter. If
newsletter articles are not received, then it will be more of Jim &
Emilia's automotive adventures or "The Motoring Mouth".
