Capitol Pantera Tech Session
April 24, 2005
It was time for our annual Capitol Pantera Tech Session.  The weekend had started out very wet, but the rain held off for Sunday.  We had a good turn out for the event (100% better than last year , when the session was cancelled due to all club cars being in good repair at the time).  We had three  Panteras being tended to and one Cobra. The items being addressed on the Panteras were: fine tweak the shift linkage and check the throttle cable adjustments on Jim's car, remove the turn signal switch on Rick Carlile's car, and re-glue some rubber trim molding on Peter's car.  Mike was interchanging carburetor jets, changing spark plugs, and plug wires on the 427 Cobra.  Jim, Rick Moseley, and Carl Stein actually "laid hands" on Mikes Cobra, thus insuring that nothing would go wrong on the trips home in their cars.  The work schedule was interrupted in the morning by watching the very exciting Formula 1 race, broadcast on CBS.
There were a number of people who stayed most of the day or stopped by to see how things were going; Rick Carlile, Mike Drew, Jim & Emilia Seiferling, Rick Moseley, Carl Stein, Jeff Budelli, Peter Kovacs, Terry Morofsky, John Worsley, John McNamee, George & John Potiris, Marsha Carlile, and Rick's friend Arnie, who helped with the BBQ duties.
The whole affair went very smoothly except for the two hour parts run that Mike and Peter took.  The time gave the crew an opportunity to have a break and relax, while Mike and Peter toured greater Sacramento looking for the needed sparkplug wire set.  The BBQ was handled beautifully by Rick and Arnie.  There was plenty of food and drinks for everyone. This was especially amazing to me, since the entire meal was planned and executed by males.  They handled all the clean up as well.  A job very well done!
A big thank you to Rick Carlile for the use of his shop for the tech session.  Hopefully we will be invited back next year.
A nice collection of hardware!
Meeting Notes, May 10, 2005
We had 11 people at Mimi's for the May meeting of the Capitol Panteras. The weather was better than last month but there were no Panteras in the parking lot!  John Worsley does have his Bricklin up and running thanks to some help from Carl Stein.  The group consisted of; Duane & Darice Harlan, Jim & Emilia Seiferling, John Worsley, Rick Carlile, Carl Stein, Ken Montgomery, Jeff Budelli, John McNamee, and Henry Kirk.  Next month will surely be the month for a large number of club cars!  Treasurer John has issued a challenge to everyone to bring their club car to the next meeting or face a $5 fine!(to be collected by the Treasurer)
Club Treasurer, John McNamee, reported that the club is solvent with more money than we have had in a long time.  John was also the model for a shirt with the new Capitol Pantera logo.  If you wish to order shirts with the new CP Logo, call or fax John with your selection of size, color and style.  He said the cost would depend on the type of shirt selected, but would be in the $16-30 range.  He said that he could have it to you at the next CP meeting, on June 14.
The recently re-instituted monthly club meeting raffle did not occur this month.  Look for its return next month.
John McNamee and Jeff Budelli have had trouble with a date for the May Wine Run and BBQ.   The end destination will be the Fairplay area.  Jeff has already driven the route and has some fun roads in mind for the outing.  We will end the cruise at John's for a BBQ.  Thanks to Jeff and John for working on this outing.  My though was to try for a date in September. The weather would still be good and that would give us all plenty of time to save the date.  We will discuss the Fall date at the next meeting.
The date for the Thunder Valley Casino Rally & Brunch is Sunday, June 26. The cost will be ~ $17 per person.  We will meet at the Mimi's parking lot at 10 AM.   We will then caravan to Thunder Valley for Brunch.  If you will be coming from the other direction, try to meet us at Thunder Valley for our 11 AM arrival.  John Worsley has arranged for special reserved parking at the Casino for the Club cars.  Thank you John for setting this event up with the Casino.
The Wine Country Classic Vintage Races are coming up June 4-5, at Sears Point. CP member Carl Stein will be driving his 1966 Shelby Trans Am Mustang in the event.   The Shelby Club will allow us to join their corral at the event.  If you would like a corral pass for your Pantera, please contact Rick Carlile as soon as possible.
