Meeting Notes
President John was in charge at the May meeting.
We had 22 people present this
month. This is an all time high attendance since at least 2009!
Those attending were; Emilia & Jim Seiferling, Henry Kirk, Ron
Southern, John McNamee, Mike & Nancy Haney, Mila & Lamar Fairchild,
Mike Zamorelli, John Drago & friend Jeff, Paul Bowden, Mike Drew, Rick
Carlile, Garry and Sue Choate, Darice and Duane Harlan, Steve Christensen, Jeff
Budelli and Dennis Gacutan. Dennis came late from another business
meeting, but we were happy to see him after such a long absence.
The Club treasury has $2,155. A
donation will be made at the June meeting to the California Auto Museum.
We hope that museum board member Carl Stein, himself a CP member, will be
present to accept the donation and update our group on the future of the
museum.
President John reminded the group that our June CP meeting will be at the California Auto Museum. Please note that meeting will be on Thursday, June 19 at 6 PM. John will arrange food for the meeting. We will have a private room for our meeting and also be able to tour the Museum. He would love to have the parking lot filled with Panteras for this meeting. Please mark your calendar now for this meeting.
John traded his latest DeTomaso item a DeTomaso speedometer clock for an afghan in DeTomaso colors, made by Emilia. If you would like to buy a clock, please contact John (916-456-3809). John will be donating $5 per clock to Capitol Panteras. Thank you John!
Sorry for the lousy photo, but the glass cover was highly reflective.
Since Garry and Sue will be attending the POCA Fun Rally in San Diego, they were asked to represent CP at the President's Breakfast. We also voted to have them buy $200 worth of raffle tickets in the name of CP. Mike Drew will transport any prizes that we may win. The items will be used as prizes in the monthly raffle or sold to CP members. Any funds raised will go into the Club treasury.
John Drago drove his new Pantera to the meeting. It is "Howdy Officer Red" with lots of polished aluminum in the engine bay!
Driving for Gas Money this month was won by Lamar. Also in the running for the gas money this month were President John, Rick Carlile, John Drago, Steve Christenson, Paul Bowden, Garry Choate.
The raffle was won by Mike Drew - a DeTomaso hat, and Rick Carlile - a torque wrench.
Rick reported that he will be racing his TVR at the Sonoma Historic Motorsports Festival. President John said that his brother would also be racing at the event. If your schedule allows, head over to Sonoma and cheer the guys to victory.
President John announced that he would not be at the July CP meeting. After very little discussion, it was decided that Nancy will serve as acting President for that meeting. Nancy did phrase it a bit differently. She elected herself dictator for the month of July.
Duane invited CP members to come up to Arnold for their annual car show, July 19th. If you attend, you have pretty good odds of being "Best in Show - European Car".
Jeff Budelli reported that the Festa Italiana is set for August 2-3. While Jeff is not the car display chairman for the event this year, he said the display day for the De Tomaso Panteras would be on Sunday. Save the date for this fun local event. Hopefully we can get John Dago's new Pantera parked next to Jeff's nitrous monster. That would present a real wow factor to the public.
Our newest Pantera guy, Steve Christensen, passed around a specially designed gear shifter, machined from aluminum. It is specially tapped to seat lower on the shift lever. There are spacers that can be inserted to seat it at a stock height. You can contact Steve if want to buy one. The price is $50. Steve also drove his beautiful black 1974 (#6512) to our meeting. It was too dark to take a photo, so hopefully next time we'll have a picture of his very nice Pantera.
