Our May meeting also had a rather meager attendance, like last month. No Panteras in sight.
Those in attendance were Rick Carlile, Jim & Emilia Seiferling, Carl Stein, and Garry & Sue Choate.
Discussions Around the Table.
The California Auto Museum would like to have Panteras on display during the month of October. You would have to leave your car there for the entire month.
There is a new contractor, for the next 3 years, for the historic races at Sears Point. He’s trying to make it kind of a Goodwood high class event. In doing so, the ticket prices have been raised astronomically. The day admission for just Friday practice in now $75 per person!!! The 3 day pass is $100 per person. The price to run your historic race car use to be about $500 for the weekend. It is now $1,800. Rick’s fully certified race TVR application was rejected! Even if he was accepted, there’s now way either he with the TVR or Carl with the real Shelby TransAm Mustang would attend. What a great way to kill a previously great event. We used to go Friday morning and visit with Rick, Carl, and Terry Morofsky and then have a nice lunch in Sonoma, Napa, or Vallejo. Not for the next 3 years! $150/couple for 4 hours is not going to happen.
Rick is still waiting to see if his application will be accepted for the Monterey Historics, in August.
Carl reported that the Shelby Mini Nats will be a Sears Point, August 3-4th. It doesn’t appear there will be any entrance fee for spectators but you may be charged for parking.
This is a great event to get your ears re-calibrated to what a real race should sound like! Maybe make this a meeting point for all the Pantera guys in both clubs?
The first annual Concours d'elegance will be held this Sunday, May 19th at Lincoln Hills. No spectator price can be found on their website. The Concours at Serrano will be October 6th Ticket prices for this event are $45 in advance and $55 at the gate. Niello Concours Raduno’s will be held June through September. See the calendar below. These are free events.
Garry and Sue are planning on attending the POCA Fun Rally in Reno. Emilia and Jim had planned to attend but have a major conflict right in the middle of the event.
We talked about the Christmas Party date for this year. Sue said PCNC has not posted a date yet, and she will contact the event chairman to see if she can get a date.
After that is confirmed, we’ll pursue our party options for this year.
Since the Brunch Run for May 11 was canceled due a low response and a PCNC conflict, another date was selected. Saturday, June 29 is the new date. The destination has not been decided. If you have a route/restaurant suggestion, please speak up. It should be good weather for a drive.
