Delta
Brunch
November 7,
2004
It was a crisp Autumn morning in the Delta. We were
getting ready to head over to the Point Waterfront Restaurant, in Rio Vista, for
this year's Capitol Panteras Delta Brunch. This would be the fourth year
for the club to make a trip to the Delta area. It was especially nice
for us. It was much easier for us to go the half mile to the
restaurant than the 45 plus miles to the monthly meeting (one way).
As we prepared to leave, we were greeted by Mike and Nancy
Haney. Traffic had been light from Napa and they arrived early in Mike's
Alfa. We enjoyed a nice visit at our house before we headed to the
restaurant.
We lead Mike and Nancy over to the restaurant and found
that the restaurant had a row in the parking lot blocked off for our group.
We then waited for the rest of the group to arrive. One by one the cars
arrived. Most came in their club cars. Jeff Bundelli was without his
red Pantera. He related a story of just barely making it home the night
before with electrical problems. This did not make him feel too
comfortable about the trip to Rio Vista from Folsom. Peter Kovacs was also
without his Pantera. He had taken it down to Wilkinson's the prior
week. But by taking his Mustang he had room for both his wife and son!
Those who drove their club cars included: Jim & Emilia Seiferling, Ken
& Judy Montgomery, Dennis & Patty Gacutan, John & Susan
McNamee, Carl & Lesley Stein, Steve & Linda Liebenow, Tom Galli,
and John Worsley.
Once in the Point Restaurant, we were seated in the Garden
Room with a beautiful view of the Sacramento River. The buffet had a
number of both breakfast and lunch entrees, including an omelet bar. There
was even an automotive celebrity sighting at brunch. Craig Breedlove was
having brunch at the Point that Sunday. Craig lives in the Delta and has
his race shop in Rio Vista. If you don't know who Craig Breedlove is,
see the following link http://www.thrustssc.com/thrustssc/Competitors/Spirit_of_America.html The group enjoyed good food and conversation. After
the Brunch, the group gathered around the cars in the parking lot. Many
had to leave for other commitments, but four cars were able to join Jim for an
impromptu drive though the Montezuma Hills west of Rio Vista.
Jim uses this route for his Pantera test drive road whenever he needs to
check out the car, or to just have a fun drive! The country roads
were curvy, the scenery was beautiful, and best of all there was NO Traffic
either direction for the entire 20 plus mile drive! It's a great Pantera
road, third and fourth gear the entire way.
Next Fall we will look for yet another Delta
restaurant to visit. We hope to have even more of the Pantera community
join us next year. We enjoyed having PCNC members join us.
Our club embraces all orphaned sports
cars!
Meeting Notes, November 9,
2004
We had 13 people at Mimi's for
the November meeting of the Capitol Panteras. The weather
was too chilly, so we were unable to dine outside
on the patio.
The Fall Brunch Run was discussed. See
story above. Additional photos are on the club web site. Thank you
Ken.
The date for the Capitol Pantera Christmas
Party has been set. It will be Sunday, December 5. There will be a
gift exchange with this years theme being German or Car in honor of the Pantera
ZF Transmission. The gift should have a value of ~$10. The
cost for dinner is $10 per person and the time to arrive is 6
PM. Thanks again Dennis and Patty for hosting the group. As a
reminder, Dennis and Patty live along one of the areas most Festive
Christmas Light displays and we will be walking the display route during the
party. http://www.pebblecreeklights.com
Check out the Christmas lights in
Dennis' neighborhood.
The calendar of club events was discussed and
planned. Note that each local event has a chairman. This is a
calendar that is open to suggestions. We also may be able to join the
DeLorean group on some of their outings thanks to Ken. See club calendar
below. If you have other ideas e-mail them or bring them to the next club
meeting.
Wanted: Articles for CP
Newsletter
If you have attended a car function of any
type, please write about your car adventures and send it to jes@rickadee.net to be included in the next Capitol Pantera newsletter.
If newsletter articles are not received, then it will be more of Jim &
Emilia's automotive adventures. This happened again this month! We can't be the
only people who have automotive adventures!
