EuroSunday, Oct 26th
by Emilia Seiferling
Jim and I were happy that EuroSunday was back in the South area. That meant a much shorter drive and a later wake up time! We arrived at "It's a Grind", in Elk Grove, to find a full lot of Euro cars. The weather was cool but clear, a nice fall morning. Once parked, we went to get something hot to drink. This time I was able to get my seasonal coffee drink. Last time we were at EuroSunday, Peet's had signs all over the place about their special seasonal coffee drinks, but then it turned out that none of them were available yet! I'm not that much of a coffee drinker so I really like the flavored specialty coffees. So needless to say I enjoyed my Pumpkin Latte on this cool October morning.
Jim enjoyed speaking with a gentleman who had just completed a restoration of his 1956 Porsche 356. It was beautifully done. Jim's first car was a 1957 Porsche. He bought it with the money he earned working at the cannery for a full summer. We had our first date in the 356A Porsche. If his Porsche had been this pretty, he never would have sold it!
John was the only other CP member to show up for this EuroSunday. We went to brunch, but had to go to our second choice of restaurants. We tried to go to the Old Town Grill in Elk Grove, but there was now a nail parlor in the location! It's too bad, since it had been a very nice little local place.
Wanted: Articles for CP Newsletter
If you have attended a car function of any type, please write about your car adventures and send it to email@example.com to be included in the next Capitol Pantera newsletter. If newsletter articles are not received, then it will be more of Jim & Emilia's automotive adventures or "The Motoring Mouth".
Meeting Notes November 11, 2008
The weather was cold and threatening for the CP monthly meeting at Mimi's. This month there were only two club cars at the meeting; one Pantera (Dennis) and the Bricklin (John). Present at the meeting were: Dennis & Patty Gacutan, Henry Kirk, John Worsley, Jim and Emilia, Carl Stein, Rick Carlile, Nancy & Mike Haney, Duane & Darice. The "Driving for Gas $" winner was Dennis. There was no raffle this meeting, so the Club finances had a net loss of $10.
It was great to see Duane and Darice back at a CP meeting. Duane reported that today his MD gave him a clean bill of health.
Henry reported that he has taken a job near China Lake. The project should last about one year. That means we won't be seeing much of Henry for a while. If he happens to be in town, on a weekend that we have a Club function, we may see him.
The CP Christmas party was discussed. Dennis and Patty have volunteered to host the CP party. We will be able to have our party and take a walking tour of some spectacular Christmas lights in their neighborhood. They live in Rocklin, when you RSVP you will be sent directions to the party. The possible dates were discussed and the two dates that worked best for Dennis and Patty were either Sunday Dec. 14 or Saturday Dec. 20. After checking with everyone present at the meeting it was decided to set the CP Christmas party for Saturday, Dec. 20. at 6 PM. The cost per person is $10. The club will cover the difference in the expenses. The theme for the gift exchange is "The 70's" in honor of the decade of the Pantera. That means that if you want to participate in the gift exchange you need to bring a gift that fits the theme and has a value of approximately $20. Please RSVP with Jim at firstname.lastname@example.org Please let us know, ASAP, if you will be attending the party on Saturday, Dec. 20. We need to give Dennis and Patty a head count for the food. I didn't pass a sign up for the party at the meeting, so you need to RSVP. So right now the official attendance is at six: Dennis & Patty, Duane & Darice, Jim & Emilia.
