Summary of the October 2010 Capitol Panteras
Meeting
The November meeting had no Panteras in
the parking lot at Mimi's. Rain, which started about 3 PM, discouraged
all. Attending the meeting; Jim & Emilia Seiferling, Duane
& Darice Harlan, Carl Stein, Ken Montgomery, John McNamee, Rick Carlile,
& John Worsley. We had a raffle for a Kragen's gift card, and made a
net profit of $9. John Worsley won the raffle.
John Worsley has contacted the Grand Island Mansion http://www.grandislandmansion.com
and has received permission to park on the
driveway in front of the Mansion. This is a beautiful photo op for
the Panteras. This Champagne Brunch Run will occur on Sunday, November 14. The
cost at the Mansion should be in the $20 plus range. Our reservation
for Brunch is at 11:30
AM. Please aim to be there earlier, at about 11-11:15
AM. We hoped to have at least 6 cars at this event. The current
count is five cars and eleven people. As always, if your Club car is not
available, come anyway.
Please RSVP to Jim @ jes@riverdeltawireless.com
Please remember to mark your calendar for the Capitol
Panteras Christmas party on Saturday, December
4, at 6 PM. Duane & Darice Harlan will be
our hosts, at their home in Sacramento. We will send out their address in
a separate email, to those who RSVP. The cost for the party is $10 per
person. The Club will cover the rest of the cost. The theme for the gift
exchange this year is Australia
(engines after 1974). If you
wish to participate in the gift exchange you will need to bring a
gift that fits the theme and has a value of approximately $20. Please RSVP to Jim jes@riverdeltawireless.com
as soon as possible so that our hosts will know how many to
expect for the party.
Rick Carlile reported on his recent tour of the Robert M.
Lee Auto Collection in Sparks, Nevada. This collection is not open to the
public. Rick and Marcia were invited to join a group that bid on the tour
at a charity auction. The book value on the auto collection, five years
ago, was $750 million! All the vehicles are in concourse condition.
There is a full time crew of two, who restore and maintain the
collection. They are able to totally restore one vehicle very two years.
Mr. Lee is a three-time "Best of Show" Pebble Beach
winner. He started "Hunting World" in the 1950's. Mr. Lee
is 82 years old and still hunts in the USA, but no longer personally goes on
the African safaris that were the start of his business.
