3rd
Annual Placerville Run
Sept
22, 2013
While it had been a wet and windy
Saturday, Sunday turned out to be beautiful. It was a great day to go for
a drive in the Foothills!
A small group of foreign cars met in
Folsom to go on our third annual Placerville Run.
The cars were Japanese, Italian, and German.
That translates to Lamar's daily driver Japanese car, two Italian, Jim &
Emilia in the Abarth and Mike Zamorelli and his daughter in John's
Pantera, Mike & Nancy in their new Jetta. Lamar was in his daily
driver because he pulled a muscle and couldn't put in the clutch on the
Pantera.
The advantage of the smaller group was
that we were all winners in some form! Lamar had prizes for the poker run
and prizes for the co-pilot trivia quiz. Everyone went home with a prize!
We enjoyed a nice lunch at the small
casual restaurant at the Red Hawk Casino since there was a long line at
the buffet. It wasn't until the September club meeting that we found out
that Lamar got food poisoning from his lunch of fish & chips!
Lamar is already planning next year's
drive. He already has a different restaurant in mind for lunch!
Thanks for planning the drive Lamar!
Meeting
Notes
Substitute President Emilia ran
the October meeting.
We had 11 people present this
month. Those attending were; Emilia & Jim Seiferling, Rick
Carlile, Lamar Fairchild & Mila, Ken Montgomery, Mike & Nancy
Haney, John McNamee, Ron Southern, Sue & Garry Choate.
Driving for Dollars:
Garry drove his Pantera.
Lamar and John drove their Panteras. Ken drove
his DeLorean. Garry won the drawing for $10.00.
The raffle was held this
meeting. There was a custom DeTomaso blanket made at John's
shop. The lucky winner was Ken. Thank you John for getting the best
items for our month Club raffle. Too bad for those not in attendance, you
missed out on the chance to win a great DeTomaso item!
The annual election of officers was
held. There was a unanimous cast for the current slate of officers:
President George, Treasurer John, and newsletter co-editors Jim & Emilia.
It was reported that there is a new
host for the Christmas Party. Garry & Sue will host the Capitol
Pantera party on Saturday, December 7 at 5:30 PM. It is a BYOB
party. There will be soft drinks provided by the Club. The theme for
the gift exchange is "Cars/ Tools/ Maintenance". The gift
exchange is optional with a $20 limit. The cost is $10 per person. Please
check your calendar so that you will be prepared to R.S.V.P. at the November
Capitol Pantera meeting.
The Club will be making a $125
donation to the California Automobile Museum. The Club has enough money
in the bank to support this donation.
John reported that the Concourse at
Serrano was awesome.
Jim reported that the Rio Vista car
show was on for September 12, but that he and Emilia would be at a ham radio
convention in Santa Clara that weekend.
