Summary of the August 2011 Capitol Panteras Meeting

The September meeting had two Panteras and a DeLorean in the parking lt.  Don Gagnon and John McNamee drove their Panteras, with Ken Montgomery in his DeLorean.   We did the drawing for "Driving for Gas $" and it was won by Don.  Those also attending the meeting, but not in their club car: Jim & Emilia, John Worsley, Henry Kirk, Mike Drew, and Lori Albino.

We heard from Lamar, after the meeting via email.  This was his message to us.

"The car is down and so am I.  I go in for cardioversion on Monday.  I have been in a-fib for a couple of months and the new blood thinner has been knocking me for a loop.  Put the car rally on hold, and we will see if I get better, if we can squeeze it in somewhere. Sorry, say hello to all and hope to be back shortly. Thanks, Lamar."

We all certainly wish Lamar a speedy recovery.  Please note; the Placerville Drive is cancelled.

John McNamee reported that we have $1,137 in the bank.  We added to the account with the raffle money.  The raffle was won by Mike.  He took home a short florescent shop light.

John Worsley and Mike Drew gave reports on their Monterey experiences.  Mike reported that the guys on the deTomaso forum took up a collection and bought a ticket for Tom Tjaarda to come to Monterey.  One of the Pantera owners rented a house in Monterey and put Tom up for the weekend.  Mike and Lori had lunch with Tom on Thursday in Carmel, at the "Tour" event downtown.  The PCNC dinner, at the Los Laureles, had a very large turnout this year.  The featured marque for the Historics at Laguna Seca next year will be The Cobra.

The Rio Vista car show is on Saturday, October 8th.  Please let Jim know if you plan to come.  The official registration form is available on line from the Rio Vista Chamber of Commerce.  Pre-registration is not required.  The show is a fundraiser for the Rio Vista Chamber of Commerce. The car show starts right across the street from our house.  That means if you come early enough you may be able to park in front of our house or on the side street and almost be in the car show for no charge.  The Alameda All Italian show is the next day on Sunday the 9th. That is a free show for exhibitors.  We have Oct 22nd set for Kathy Gagnon's tour of the Jackson area.  Don said she would be at the next meeting with details.  Please mark your calendar for these Club events.

Sue Choate sent us an e-mail since she was ill and unable to attend the meeting.  The Christmas party is still a go at the Choate home.  Sue is waiting to find out the date of the PCNC Christmas party.  The Choates plan on attending that party and want to set the CP party on a date that does not conflict.  The theme for the Christmas party gift exchange was announced at this week's meeting.  This year the theme is Argentina in honor of Alejandro deTomaso's birthplace.

Wanted: Articles for CP Newsletter

If you have attended a car function of any type, please write about your car adventures and send it to jes@riverdeltawireless.com  to be included in the next Capitol Pantera newsletter.  If newsletter articles are not received, then it will be more of Jim & Emilia's automotive adventures or "The Motoring Mouth".
